Rental property booking tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Semi-Oceanfront Old Nags Head Style Home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
