Tricks and tips to get the optimal Nags Head vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Nags Head. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Close to Everything & Only 5 Minute Walk to the Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
