Tips and Tricks to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. Booking in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Selecting and booking a perfectrental home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Close to EVERYTHING and only 5 minute walk to the beach. has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
