All the benefits of semi-oceanfront without the traffic. Arrive, park, and appreciate. Food Lion, 24 hr Harris Teeter, coffee stores, eateries, surf stores, galleries, and fishing pier are all within 1/2 mile.
Pool gets the sun all afternoon. Upper deck is shaded in the late afternoon. This stretch of beach has a natural shore break that is great for surfing, body boarding and body surfing.

First level has an entrance through the carport area. There is a game room area with two twin beds, TV, and 6 ft. Pool Table. There is a full-size laundry room with W/D, half bath, and a 2nd full size Fridge/Freezer. Outside there is the gated Pool area, enclosed outside shower, basketball goal, and fish cleaning table.

Smoking is allowed outside only, and these rules have kept the home pet and smoke odor complimentary.

Floor plan accepts a for lot of activity without everybody tripping over each other. When my kids bring guests the pool, game room, and hot tub tend to keep them downstairs while my friends and I can savor some quieter time on the upper level.

No better place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon beverage than the upper deck.

I do not book more than a year in advance. I block the following summer so I can offer this years' renters first refusal on next year. Please check back in December for open dates.

Please note I also require a separate Rental Agreement between you and me, as Vacation Rental By Owner only provides me a name, phone number and an e-mail address. The Agreement just provides me a little more information, and assurance that you have are aware of the limitations I have mentioned in the listing. This is my second home you are renting, and I work hard to provide you a great hideaway. I am not comfortable renting to someone I have not spoken to on the phone, so If you are looking for a no-contact rental this not your best choice.

My off-season units that are less than a week long have a different rate system. In an effort to keep the Pilot House available for a couples or single family get-away, my $300.00 rate is for to to 5 people. Additional guests above that are $25.00 per guest per nighttime. This is added as a Fee.

Tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Nags Head rental:

  • Select vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 'Pilot House', Ocean Views, Ez Access to Beach, Pool & Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

The Cotton Gin

For those traveling to the Outer Banks, The Cotton Gin is a beloved landmark with its large windmill and picturesque gardens. The Cotton Gin has stood in the same location since 1929, starting as a working cotton gin and growing to a gift store with 4 locations. Visitors are treated to a unique shopping experience in our main store in Jarvisburg, as well as our beach stores in Corolla, Duck, and Nags Head. Explore room after room filled with décor for your home and coastal fashions for both men and women. Discover the brands you really want, like, Vera Bradley, Vineyard Vines, La Mer Luex, Simply Southern, Lindsay Phillips, Scout, Pandora, Kameleon, Brighton, Spartina, Tommy Bahama, Southern Tide and Salt Life and Old Guys Rule - all under one roof!

Don’t forget the gourmet market, or shop our beautiful linens for your bedroom and bath. We also feature coastal books and fine art, or just a whimsical fun gift to bring home to family and friends. Stop by soon and don’t forget to try our estate grown wines in our stores or visit our vineyard and winery, Sanctuary Vineyards, located adjacent to the original Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
