Tips and Tricks for getting the best Nags Head rental home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Nags Head 364: Pet Friendly, Newly Remodeled, Oceanside, Short Stays Anytime! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
