Our top Nags Head rental property booking tips and tricks:

Finding your best deal:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. To get the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Nags Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. OBX Dog-friendly / Oceanfront/ Poolside Cottage 17 has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
