Getting the best vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best rental:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Morning Star
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
