Tips and Tricks to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • To get the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Moon Rider: Oceanfront, Classic Style, Great Views has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
