Strategies to get the best rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Nags Head. To book the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and picking the right Nags Head rental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Moon Rider: Oceanfront, Classic Style, Great Views has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. text the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
