How to get the best Nags Head rental home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Just Beachy: Oceanfront, Shared Pool, Tennis Court has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head attraction you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
