Strategies for getting the perfect Nags Head vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Nags Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting and booking your Nags Head vacation home:

  • Start by having your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Well-maintained 4 bedroom home in quiet South Nags Head! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
