You can’t beat the appeal, location or value of the family-friendly Barefoot Sisters Cottage! It is conveniently located between the ocean and the sound with access to a community swimming pool and basketball and tennis courts. Ideal for modest families and couples alike, this cute bungalow is well-equipped and comfortably furnished with fun beach-themed decor, flat screen TVs, Wifi, a fireplace, outdoor shower and much more.
The Old Nags Head Cove Community Pool will be open from late May through early-mid September and guests may access the pool by paying a nominal daily or weekly fee. Guests may also have access to the Old Nags Head Cove boat ramp for a weekly fee. The sound shore near the Barefoot Sisters Cottage is a great place for kids and family pets to play and adults to relax. The shallow sound waters don't have the currents and waves of the ocean and we never have "red flag" days! The sound is also charming for sail boats, kayaks, kite boards, paddleboards, or just about any type of personal watercraft. You and your family will feel right at home in this comfortable bungalow, drinking your morning coffee on the front porch, whiling away the days sunbathing at the beach, cooking family meals in the completely-equipped kitchen, and appreciating the tranquility and peaceful gathered around the fireplace.

Our top Nags Head rental booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Charming one level, 3 bedroom home in the heart of Nags Head! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
