Nags Head vacation rental home tips:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Summer Specials * Semi-Soundfront * Water Views **Hot Tub** has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
