Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. To find the largest rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Nags Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. A Chance For Total Relaxation, Beautiful Sunsets, Beach, Pool, & Golf Access! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
