How to book the best Nags Head vacation property experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose the best Nags Head vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Soundside
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
