How to find the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in Nags Head:

  • To start, have your family commit to trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 366 - Central Nags Head Location Walking Distance to Beach & More! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head destination you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
