Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Nags Head. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Nags Head restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Nags Head area:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Whalebone Oceanfront 3 Bedroom Cottage C has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
