Our top Nags Head rental booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental & When to go:

  • To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Triple Play: Semi-oceanfront, Private Pool, Spa has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
