Tricks and tips to get the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:

Get the best value:

  • Book your Nags Head rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick a perfectrental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Salty Cs: Stunning Oceanside Home with Private Pool, Hot Tub and Pool Table! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
