How to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Finding the perfect rental home in the Nags Head area:

  • To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Gillam Hall: Oceanfront, private walkway, tons of space and beautiful beaches. has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
