Getting the best rental experience:

Get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Nags Head restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the best vacation rental in Nags Head:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. South Fork Farms 10-Ocean Views, pool, hot tub, elevator & close to the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head destination you are enamored with, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
