Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Top Floor, Direct Oceanfront!! PierView Unit 306 Private Oceanfront Balcony! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
