Booking the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and choosing the right Nags Head rental:

  • Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Sleeps 16 has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your group.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
