Tips to get the perfect Nags Head vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental home in Nags Head:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Pet-friendly oceanfront Nags Head duplex w\/ hot tub and direct beach access! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
