This is the one! If you are looking for a quality place to stay and a great "right next to the beach" location - you've found the place. This is our second home and only rental; we "self-manage" and pride ourselves on our hands on approach in maintaining its condition and making sure our guests are well cared for. We keep our detailed listing up to date, read on to learn all about our place, its location and amenities!

This home with Oceanfront pool (pool is main photo in listing) is located on NC-12 beach road. It is a "second row" home directly behind the Oceanfront homes. We do have some modest Ocean vistas between the Oceanfront homes from the top rear deck. Across the street are the Epstein St. Beach access (with ramp) and Village Beach Club Private Oceanfront Pool (entry supplied, no additional costs.) The beach club offers food & drink service. The pool is open weekends only in May and then daily after Memorial Day.

Located at Milepost 14.5, the photo with the red star shows our home and the closest beach access. This beach access features a lifeguard stand and freshly remodeled bathhouse with bathrooms, showers, wooden walkway and parking. Getting to the beach is fast and safe, no need to walk down beach road to get there! It’s as simple as a short walk down the peaceful Cul de sac from the home and directly across the street from our neighborhood via crosswalk is a beach access point.

From the décor to the refreshed, high-quality furnishings, you will feel as though you are staying at a friend's home and not a rundown rental. This is our second home (and only rental) so we regularly stay here ourselves, which means you can expect to find that everything is going to be comfortable and in superb condition as listed. *Scroll all the way down for a list of amenities supplied with your stay*

A FEW THINGS THAT SET US APART FROM THE OTHER RENTALS:
*Local tip*: If you're comparing our rental to any others, be sure to ask them about their check in times (and if their time is *guaranteed*) and if bed linens are supplied. Most Outer Banks units have later check in times (sometimes as late as 6pm or later if they're running behind or don't have enough cleaning staff) and either don't provide linens or don't have beds made upon your arrival. Probably two of the most important things to consider when renting in the Outer Banks and that no one wants to deal with after a long drive!

EARLIER CHECK IN TIME
Our check in time of 3pm (and *possibly* even earlier if requested ahead of time) is guaranteed and one of the earliest in the Outer Banks area. Because this is our only rental and we aren't part of a sizable property management group that has multiple homes to clean, our renters benefit from much earlier and guaranteed check in times compared to most other units in the area so you can get your vacation started even earlier!

BEDS MADE UPON ARRIVAL
We provide all bed linens, and most all beds (except the top two bunk beds) made upon arrival, another luxury most Outer Banks units don't provide.

BEDROOMS:
Bedroom 1 - lower-level King with full bathroom
Bedroom 2 - mid-level King with full bathroom
Bedroom 3 - mid-level Queen with shared full bathroom
Bedroom 4 - mid-level, 2 twin bunk bed sets (4 twin beds total, top two bunk beds best suited for kids) with shared full bathroom

This is our home away from home and we have ensured all beds are very comfortable. In addition, the mid-level King bedroom has a Tempurpedic brand bed. All bedrooms have both blackout blinds AND blackout curtains ensuring you can sleep in as long as you’d like!

POOL:
Right across the street are the Epstein St. Beach access and the Village Beach Club private members only Oceanfront pool. The Village Beach Club Oceanfront Pool is supplied with your stay. The Beach Club also serves food and drink! They have plenty of parking as well as a separate private beach access so that you can park and access the beach without ever having to walk through the pool area. It is a private membership pool and, therefore, typically doesn’t get too busy. *Pool hours 10am-5pm, subject to change due to private events they may occasionally close an hour early at 4pm or even earlier due to weather although they will reopen after threat passes*

POOL FOOD/DRINK/AMENITIES:
The beach club does offer food and drink (they have smoothies and also have a bar) and have wait staff that take and deliver poolside orders which is a great conveniences especially for those with little ones! It’s also great for those long, lazy beach days where you can just walk over to the club from the beach and grab a snack or something exhilarating to drink, made to order, and walk right back to your chair. The club also has a double tennis court. We provide both adult and kids tennis and pickleball rackets and balls with our rental.

TV's/WI-FI:
Every bedroom has a flat screen TV and Roku streaming (with Hulu Live TV for news/cable channels) as well as a enormous screen TV in the upstairs family room. They are all intelligent TV's. Entire home has upgraded Wi-Fi. The bunk bedroom has one of the biggest TV’s in the home, we find that the kids adore to hang in there to play video games or watch movies together :)

OUTDOOR SHOWER AND GRILL:
In the covered carport area you will find an outdoor shower. We do have a propane grille (propane supplied), stools, Adirondack chairs and string lights for some hang out time while you grille :)

LAYOUT:
The heart of the home, on the top/3rd floor, has an open floor plan kitchen, dining area (seats 6), kitchen island/bar (seats 4) and family room. The top level has a back deck off the kitchen, with a picnic table and 4 high top chairs and high top table, that faces beach road and this is where you will get your Ocean view. There is a washer and dryer on this level as well as a half bathroom. There are two flights of stairs from the bottom level to the top level.

KITCHEN:
The kitchen includes everything you would need to prepare, eat and store food - including spices. We provide both a Keurig coffee maker and/or drip coffee maker for your morning coffee on the back deck. We also provide a Ninja Blender. We do not have an ice maker but provide ice cube trays. There is also plenty of room in the freezer for bagged ice.

ONLINE GUIDEBOOK/DOCUSIGN AGREEMENT:
Upon booking you will receive a message with a link to our online guidebook that we are constantly updating with more detailed information about the home and area as well as our suggestions for activities, sightseeing, eateries and bars.

Also, a signed and returned DocuSign short term rental agreement will be required prior to check in. We reserve the right to cancel if the rental agreement is not signed. We are required by the NORTH CAROLINA VACATION RENTAL ACT to have a separate written rental agreement with our renters. (This act requires that landlords or real estate brokers provide a written rental agreement to tenants who rent a vacation property for less than 90 days.)

Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best rental within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose yourvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanside - Oceanfront Pool - 2 Master Bedrooms has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

The Cotton Gin

For those traveling to the Outer Banks, The Cotton Gin is a beloved landmark with its large windmill and picturesque gardens. The Cotton Gin has stood in the same location since 1929, starting as a working cotton gin and growing to a gift store with 4 locations. Visitors are treated to a unique shopping experience in our main store in Jarvisburg, as well as our beach stores in Corolla, Duck, and Nags Head. Explore room after room filled with décor for your home and coastal fashions for both men and women. Discover the brands you really want, like, Vera Bradley, Vineyard Vines, La Mer Luex, Simply Southern, Lindsay Phillips, Scout, Pandora, Kameleon, Brighton, Spartina, Tommy Bahama, Southern Tide and Salt Life and Old Guys Rule - all under one roof!

Don’t forget the gourmet market, or shop our beautiful linens for your bedroom and bath. We also feature coastal books and fine art, or just a whimsical fun gift to bring home to family and friends. Stop by soon and don’t forget to try our estate grown wines in our stores or visit our vineyard and winery, Sanctuary Vineyards, located adjacent to the original Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
