Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose and book your prefect Nags Head rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront, Nags Head NC - 13 bedrm home w historic charm + modern conveniences has 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
