Tips to get the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Nags Head. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose the right Nags Head vacation home:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront, Nags Head NC - 13 bedrm home w historic charm + modern conveniences has 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head beach you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
