Vacation rental tips:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Reserve your Nags Head rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Nags Head area:

  • To start, have your group select the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront - Nags Head with Pool and Hot Tub! Pet Friendly! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head attraction you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
