Tricks and tips to get the perfect Nags Head vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking your prefectvacation home:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Ocean View Home with private pool and Hot tub has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
