Tips to get the perfect Nags Head vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking your Nags Head rental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Location! 3 bed/2bath Five min walk to beach! Linens & towels included! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
