Strategies to get the best Nags Head vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. MAY 24 - 31st NOW AVAILABLE!!!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
