Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Nags Head. To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing yourrental:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Flip Flop Inn: Semi-oceanfront, Private Pool, Spa has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
