Tips for getting the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your Nags Head vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking the right Nags Head vacation home:

  • To start, have your group decide on dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Family Friendly Cottage w\/Ocean Views. LifeGuarded Beach at access. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
