Nags Head vacation rental home tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. To get the best value, change your family's Nags Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing the rightrental home:

  • First, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Ocean Views has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
