Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to book a Nags Head rental & When to go:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family select vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 7149 Geri's Place #7 * Steps to the Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Nags Head beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review.
