Tricks and tips to get the perfect Nags Head rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Nags Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick a perfectvacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Pelican Cove: Oceanside, Private Pool, Tiki Bar has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
