Tips to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Nags Head area. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Nags Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanview Getaway at Same Song Twice! Condo 102 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
