Getting the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Nags Head. Booking your Nags Head vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Nags Head rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. K1144 Sunkissed. Oceanfront, 8BR, Private Pool, Elevator, Home Theater, Pet Friendly! has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
