How to find the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. To find the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect rental in Nags Head:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. K0113 An American Dream. Oceanfront; Private Pool; Hot Tub; Pets OK! has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
