Booking the best Nags Head rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • First, have your group commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Sleeps 8 has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
