Strategies to get the optimal Nags Head vacation home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your Nags Head rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. ? ? ? ? ?\"Extremely clean + such a great location.” ? ? ? ? ? has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
