Nags Head rental property booking tips:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family select trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Bri's Bungalow: Fully Remodeled Dog-Friendly Home
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Have a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
