How to get the best Nags Head rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer months are high season in Nags Head. Reserve your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking the rightvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Take It to the Limit: 16 Bedrooms, oceanfront, pool, two hot tubs, cabana, rec room, theater room! has 16 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
