Tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Semi-oceanfront cottage delight! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you long to visit, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
