Ocean Front Beach House

This place was great. Good location- steps from the ocean. Quiet. The house was quiet considering it is an older house- I couldn’t really hear the other guests that were staying with us in their room. I wish the linens were included and of better quality and that the keyless entry was more secure. Other than that I have no complaints.

Fun getaway

Easy check-in and check-out, the unit was moderately clean.
We had issues with ants in the sink, countertops and refrigerator. Other than that, beds were clean. We opted out of "linen service" which we did not realize that meant no linens were provided (our mistake but just FYI). In addition, the charcoal grill had mold all over the inside grates.
Being right on the beach with views of Jockeys Ridge was awesome. Walking distance to multiple shops and restaurants as well. Outdoor shower was a huge plus.

GREAT Location

Overall, we loved this property, even if the week started off a little rough and the weather SUCKED (not Beach Realty's fault!).

CONS.
-Wifi was not working when we arrived (and two of us were taking a working vacation and had specifically looked for a property with wifi).
-Coffee maker was not working upon arrival
-STRONG moth ball smell upon arrival
-Cold, rainy, and windy all week, except for a few hours on Friday. Alas, not the property's fault. At least Sandy Ridge was not swept into the ocean like some other houses this week!
-No hand soap provided. Couldn't really believe this, on the back end of a global pandemic, where we all re-learned the importance of basic sanitation.

Pros.
-Internet was fixed by Monday afternoon
-Handyman discovered audio on the TV was not working, and brought out a new TV by Tuesday morning
-Handyman brought a new coffee maker Monday afternoon when he came to fix the TV
-Laundry was great
-Text customer service was so nice, as was Ella over the phone
-Private beach access was AWESOME.
-Great adirondacks and rocking chairs on front and back porch
-Great location: near lots of great restaurants and grocery stores and sites.

It was a nice experience overall. The cottage was pretty basic. Location was good except you could only see a sliver of ocean from deck. The shower kept coming off rail which was annoying and shower drain was clogged. Good location when you walk down onto the beach. Much better than staying at hotel though. We enjoyed it.

We have stayed at this house for the last 3 years. This house is small and could use some updates but, overall, it's a great house due to the location. You are literally a 15 second walk to the ocean. It's a very fair price and they have gotten some more pots and pans to help you. I would say to bring mixing bowls and any Tupperware, if you plan on having leftovers, as there is only small mixing bowl and no storage options. I would highly suggest the homeowner investing in some Dollar General non glass cups as these would be helpful when taking water, or what have you, to the beach. As of right now, there are none so bring beach friendly cups if you need them. The wifi got an upgrade, which is nice, so all our laptops, tablets, phones worked well. You are very close to the Food Lion, Austin Seafood and Duck Donuts. We rode our bikes every where and all was close and convenient. I highly recommend staying here.

Great location, great vacation!

Fantastic location - home is right by the beach, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. On the other side of the roads, there is a state park - and that means pretty much nobody else goes to the beach at this spot (since there are no more houses soundside). So you have everything pretty much for yourself. There are also a few shops and restaurants within walkable distance as well.

The house itself is a little older and on the small side, but it was very clean and well maintained. The A/C worked very well despite it being in the 80-90 the whole week, and we had a few nice cookouts in the kitchen. All in all, we highly recommend this place!

Great Beach Cottage

Had a wonderful time at Sandy Ridge.
Keyless entry, which made it extremely easy for getting into the home. Several additional keys available for your guest. Great wall hanging plaque to keep your keys organized.
House is very close to the beach. Just a few long strides for access. Nice walkway. Stairs a little steep, but found a sandy area to actually take so, no stairs needed.
Communication was all done through text messaging. I couldn't reach anyone by phone, but they responded in a reasonable time frame through texting.
Property on the outside could use a little sprucing up. Overgrown areas, which I am sure is there as a protection for the home during crazy weather times.

Found some items of concern for the house, which I shared with the property management. These items didn't affect my visit, but I am sure that no one has ever shared with them, but I felt If I was the homeowner I would like to know.
This area is located in the heart of Nagshead. Easy to get to grocery stores, restaurants etc.
Beach area was beautiful. Not very crowded since this is located in a non public access.
Beds would be a recommendation for an upgrade.
This cottage had 6 beds in the home: 2 doubles and 4 twins. 2 full bathrooms.
Microwave, coffee pot, dishwasher, lots of pots and pans, dishes, glasses (even wine glasses), cups etc.
When we arrived we were greeted with 2 rolls of toilet paper, one roll of paper towels, dish detergent, laundry detergent, dish washer detergent, pens, bath soap and 2 plastic cups.
Outdoor deck on both sides of the home.
Back deck has 2 very nice wooden rocking chairs, bench and 3 additional plastic chairs. Breeze was amazing on the back deck.
Front deck had several heavy duty wooden chairs for people watching.
Outdoor shower is amazing.

I would recommend this location based on a few things, location, price and ammenties.

An Amazing Family Vacation Spot

I can't say enough about our experience staying at Sandy Ridge. The house is listed as Semi-Oceanfront and I guess technically it is, but it's on the beach side, with 1 house in front, and there is direct beach access with out having to cross a street. To me, this is ocean front. The house was exactly as advertised and extremely clean. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make the week go smoothly. And the views!!! Front row view of the amazing sunset over Jockey Ridge Park with out ever leaving home. We could not have asked for a better experience, so much so that we have already booked again for next year!

This year we only got to stay for two days due to mandatory evac; but it was a good stay. They replaced the coffee maker, well done, it's still clean and decent.
I would suggest cleaning the coverlets more often. The one on my bed had Kool aid stains so it was not clean. We opted for early check in and it looked like the housekeepers were rushed. I suggest making sure they have time to thoroughly clean and have time to do laundry when early check in is approved.
All in all, the property management does a good job and we will stay again.

We came into the office of Beach Realty in Kitty Hawk with low expectations; as it was Labor Day weekend. Our original rental fell thru. Heather at the front desk jumped right into trying to find an affordable rental for us. The office closed at 6:30 and she stayed til 6:45 and then her boss stayed til a little after 7 as well.
The house was great. It was a beach box so nothing fantastic or over the top. It was clean and it had running water with a 50 yard jaunt to the beach.
I will say that the coffee maker is a travesty. Seems it was pieced together and the water does not filter thru. Almost severely burnt my hand so we bought another one for the week. I would seriously recommend the owner buy a new one. $40 for a coffee maker trumps a potential lawsuit every time.
The beds were comfortable. The furniture is serviceable. Like I said, nice but not great. The best part was the private walkway to the beach and the fact it was a 30 second walk to sun and water. I would recommend and would stay again.

Just what we were looking for.

This house was in a great location. I would say in the center of it all. Good fresh seafood store across the street, nice ride out to Hatteras island for a day or close shopping stores and two Food Lions a mile in either direction. Washer and dryer worked great. The only down was could use some screen on the back deck and new chairs on the front deck. The inside was very clean and ready with lots of pots, pans and dishes.

Love this location!

We loved the house and the location as well as the outdoor shower. It was terrific to be able to do laundry. There were a couple of minor things - one of the keys didn't work and the rental office was a bit of a drive, so we made do with one key. The kitchen table was lose enough on it's base that we were worried it might break. We called to have it fixed, but no one came until the day we were leaving. All in all, it was a great place to stay, a nice company to work with and we'd rent it again. We will just check to make sure our keys match before we leave the rental office.

perfect locale

House was clean, cute and very livable for our six-person party. Nice have a shady deck as well as a sunny deck. Beach access is easy and we actually had a sliver of an ocean view from the back deck. I would rent this location again for the off-season rate.
