Lost Colony Brewery at Stumpy Point and Pub at Nags Head Waterfront

Located in Stumpy Point on Dare County mainland, this 10,000 sq ft facility houses the heartbeat of the brewery. We brew daily on our 30 barrel brewhouse to create the freshest and best English-style ales to be found on the coast. Paul Charron opened the beast in 2016, after years of brewing on a two-barrel system in the 300 sq. ft. pub in Manteo. Stumpy Point scored the perfect tri-fecta of potable water, space, and an awesome waterfront view. Today we are pushing out enough beer to keep over 100 local eateries stocked and ready to pour for the thirsty denizens of the OBX. It has never been a better time to ‘Get Lost.” Try our Tasting Room at Nags Head Waterfront.

Last week I ventured out . Stumpy Point is a great place to go as long as they don't lock the door and keep you out.....The brewery crew has a sense of humor when it comes to picking on loyal customers... They finally relented and let me in... With all the fun kidding aside.. If you don't go to the brewery you are missing out on 3/4 of the story of Lost Colony Beer.... Paul and Steve and Keegan literally walk you through the fascinating, almost mystical, process of brewing.... Do Not Miss Out on the Fun....

HA!. the. parrot. is. no. more.

Not a day goes by without someone either online or in person asking me when we will brew a new beer. I have had more than one visitor ask on a Sunday, “we are here all week will you have a new beer by Friday?”
My response is always the same, “We brew British and Irish ales. We chase perfection in our nine beers. Take time off from your UnTapped inspired beer hunt, put down your beer blog, and enjoy the beer in front of you. Have two of the same and get to know it before chasing the next one.”

Getting busy.
Our Waterfront Beer Garden is open 1pm till 8pm daily.

Trivia tonight at the waterfront in Nags Head.

The Brewery in Stumpy Point will be open this Wednesday and every Wednesday during the summer,1pm to 5pm for tours and pints. Bring a kayak and check out our waters. Take a tour of the refuge and look for beers, I mean bears. Bring your pup and/or your husband.

Saturday, May 11th we will be at the Frisco Woods Campground for their OYSTER ROAST. This event helps fund the Frisco – Buxton pathway. (I remember an old bumper sticker “where the hell is Buxton”)

Our beer will be at the OBX SHRED FEST in Rodanthe May 18th. Proceeds go to DARE2CARE serving our local veterans and special needs in our community.

May 31st, will find us at the Fishing for Heroes tournament in Hatteras. Proceeds benefit active-duty service members and their families!

This week we will be canning Hatteras Red and Nags Head IPA while also brewing another batch of Kitty Hawk Blonde and Manteo Porter. Demolition of the old tractor trailer continues at the brewery. Freeing up space. Thinking maybe a disc golf?

Last Friday I was in Raleigh for their Brewgaloo beer event. It was mobbed! I tried valiantly to explain what type of beer I was pouring. I needed to differentiate Lost Colony’s beer from the multitude of beers being served.
“We have British Isle style ales, made with imported Irish and British grains hops and yeast. We even engineer our water to be an exact match of the regions the beers styles originated in. So, for instance water used to makes Charon Stout matches Dublin, Ireland”, I shouted like a crazed auctioneer. The crowd just kept coming by the thousands.
I finally settled on “we serve beer flavored beer. No fruits, no vegetables, no flowers.”
It worked.
Made a lot of new friends.

The barter system is a live and well in Stumpy Point. I traded beer for a couple dozen soft shell crabs.

Wonderful tour. Enjoyed the beer, the conversation, and Charlie.

Our son Aidan Charron is now the Director of End Plastics inititive for EarthDay Org.
Even though he has been all over the daily papers, and even got his picture in People magazine I thought I would help him with his messaging.

Brewery Tour Wednesdays start this week.
The word TOUR can be a bit misleading for what we are doing. Open House Wednesday may be more appropriate.
We will open the Pub up for the day from 1pm till 5pm.
If you would like to have a tour of the brewery we will be more than happy to oblige. If you just want to sit and enjoy a pint than be our guest.
We are not charging for the tour.
We will charge for pints.
You do not have to call ahead.
We do not have food.

The fish house across the road does sell fish.
The fish is not cooked.

Friendly dogs must get along with our dogs.

You may ask question.
You may poke Steven.
Never mind Steven says do not poke me
The address is 106 highway 264 Stumpy Point.
You maybe drafted to help.
All this may/will change as we go forward. I am open to suggestion. (but not criticisms)

I have been saying no weekend work for a few years now & I still do it.

You needed Raymond Rails there… just saying.

I loved weekend work at the hospital. Infact I worked every weekend for 15+ years
