Tips for getting the perfect Nags Head rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Nags Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Seaside 46: Oceanside, private hot tub, short walk to the beach access, 5 bedroo has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
